Surrey Launches Training Camp Ahead of Return to Play

International Surrey Football is pleased to announce that it’ll be running a 2-week training camp as ISF aims to prepare for its return to play with a number of games ahead of the 2021/22 club pre-season. The training camp will see both Surrey’s men and women’s teams meet ahead of their planned fixtures later this month and in May.

The training camp is invitation only and will see Surrey’s men and women’s players gather on two consecutive weekends to train at Merrist Wood College near Guildford, with the men’s team holding a third training session in Coulsdon. These sessions will be followed by a number of games at the further education college. Details of the games including opposition and dates will be announced at a later date. All games involving both teams will be played behind closed doors.

The training camp will be the first time the men’s team have been able to gather since the team’s 4-1 win over the Chagos Islands in December 2019, and will the first opportunity for new men’s manager, Matthew Nash, to coach the men’s side ahead of the planned games.

The training camp will also be the first time the women’s team have ever been able to meet after several postponements of their intended trial game caused several delays to the team’s plan. It is intended that the women’s team will be the first of either ISF team to host a fixture when the schedules are confirmed.

The women’s team will gather on April 10th and 17th for the 2 sessions, while the men’s team will gather at Merrist wood on April 11th and 18th, with the session in Coulsdon being held on April 25th. Players have already been contacted and briefed on details of the sessions, but interested players not yet involved with International Surrey Football can sign up for an invitation here:

Surrey Men’s Trials to be Rescheduled into Midweek Friendlies

International Surrey Football would like to report that it’s planned training fixture, due to be held at Merstham Football Club on November 17th 2019, will be rescheduled, and be replaced with a top be arranged midweek friendly against club opposition.

The decision was made following a number of players raising concerns about participating in a fixture after likely playing only 24 hours previous on Saturday 16th for their respected club sides.

Therefore, for player welfare and fitness reasons, it’s been decided that the scheduled training fixture due to take place on November 17th 2019 at the Whiskey Bible Stadium (Moatside), will no longer be taking place as previously announced, instead, a midweek friendly against club opposition will be organised as a replacement of the previous plans.

Details of the proposed fixture will be announced when available, any games against club opposition will take place before the end of the 2019/20 season, ahead of our planned fixtures to be held in May 2020. Players that are still interested in taking part in a rearranged fixture, can still sign up on our website.
