International Surrey Football is pleased to announce the dates for the inaugural Southern Frontier Cup, originally intended to take place 23-24 May 2020, the rescheduled tournament will take place 29-30 May 2021, and will still be held at Whyteleafe FC in Tandridge in the eastern part of Surrey.
The tournament is currently scheduled to still feature the 4 teams previously announced to participate, Cascadia, Parishes of Jersey, Surrey and Yorkshire. However, changes may occur based on sudden changes in team availability or continued COVID travel restrictions. Changes in team participation including the replacement of participants will be announced if they occur in the lead up to the tournament.
The tournament will initially be planned with a limited capacity of 400 per day, in line with current COVID-19 restrictions as specified by the UK Government and Surrey FA. We will enforce these restricted numbers and the tournament will initially be an all-ticket event, this will be reviewed as restrictions change, this may result in increased or decreased capacity and International Surrey Football will advise fans in line with these changes. Ticket sales on matchday may be available, but we advise fans to purchase online with ticket refunds made available up to 24 hours before the tournament kicks off, as we cannot yet ensure matchday availability of tickets at the turnstiles under the current restricted capacity.
Ticket prices will remain largely unchanged from the originally planned May 2020 tournament. However, we’re pleased to say that Under 5s will now be able to claim free tickets when attending with a paying adult. Reduced price early bird tickets will be available from today, October 23rd, 2020 until December 31st, 2020, with General Sale prices coming into effect from January 1st, 2021 until matchday.
Early Bird Ticket prices are;
Concession (65+): £8

Under 5s: Free
General Sale Ticket prices are;

Separate Saturday and Sunday will be required to attend both days of the tournament and tickets will continue to allow supporters attendance at both fixtures taking place each day. Supporters will also be able to pre-order commemorative physical tickets and our 64-page tournament programmes from our Eventbrite page from November 1st, 2020 when purchasing tournament tickets. These will be available for collection on either tournament day.
Saturday 29th May 2021 will feature the two semi-final fixtures, both games will be 90 minutes and if tied at full time then each game will go straight to penalties, no extra-time will be played. Sunday 30th May 2021 will begin with the third-place play-off followed by the final, the trophy will then be presented to the winning team following the end of the game.
On each day the first fixture is scheduled to kick off at midday (12:00 PM BST) and the second fixture is scheduled to kick off at 3:00 PM BST. Kick off times may be subject to change. The draw to determine each semi-final fixture will be held in January 2021, details to be confirmed.
As well as 2 matches of day 1 of the Southern Frontier Cup, we’re pleased to announce plans for guest speakers to share their football stories after the games have been held, the event will be subject to COVID-19 restrictions regarding indoor events, this is intended to take place in the Whyteleafe FC clubhouse after the conclusion of the day’s fixtures. We’re pleased to announce one of the first guest speakers hoping to take part Up Pohnpei author, Paul Watson, and he will be joined by 3 other yet to be confirmed speakers. Full details regarding ticketing of the post matchday guest speakers will be announced closer to the time as COVID-19 restrictions regarding indoor events become clearer.
