Surrey to Return to Merstham to Play Barawa for Surrey Day 2020

International Surrey Football is pleased to announce that the team will be returning to Merstham Football Club, in a rematch against our debut opposition, Barawa FA. The game will be the start of Surrey’s May fixture list.

The fixture will mark International Surrey Football’s contribution to the 2nd ever Surrey Day celebrations, organised by Visit Surrey, with the help of BBC Surrey and Surrey Life, to celebrate and promote the county. The fixture will take place on Sunday 3rd May, in order to not conflict with league playoff semi-final matches taking place on Saturday 2nd May.

Details of how International Surrey Football intents to incorporate Surrey Day as part of the fixture arrangements will be announced closer to the fixture date.

The game will also mark the first time Surrey will return to a venue that has previously hosted a Surrey fixture, Merstham’s Moatside ground (Currently known as the Whisky Bible Stadium due to sponsorship reasons) had previously hosted our last home game against the Chagos Islands on April 28th 2019.

Surrey will be looking to continue the positive mood brought about by last Sunday’s confident 4-1 win in their impromptu rematch against the Crawley based side, the game was Matt Dilger’s first win as Surrey manager after being appointed earlier in the year.

The fixture will also mark the start of Surrey’s May fixture list culminating in the inaugural edition of the Southern Frontier Cup being hosted by the county side. Cascadia, Parishes of Jersey and Yorkshire will all travel to Whyteleafe FC, and compete in the short knockout tournament in the east of Surrey before the ConIFA World Football Cup kicks off just 1 week later.

The game will also see Surrey hosting Barawa for the second time, the two teams last met in Surrey’s debut fixture hosted at Fisher FC’s St. Pauls Sports Ground in Rotherhithe, Southwark. Surrey enjoyed their first win in the blistering heat of the early May fixture, ending 3-1, for the hosts.

Sponsorship opportunities for the game, including match sponsorship, programme sponsorship, broadcast sponsorship, programme adverts, player sponsorship and more is now available for the fixture.
